Vincent P. Profy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell, NJ. He was 78 years old. Born and raised in Bristol, PA, the son of the late Vincent and Cecilia (nee Gallagher) Profy, he has been a resident of Yardley Borough for the past 48 years.
A graduate of Holy Ghost Preparatory School (HGP) Class of 1965, he earned a B.A. from Boston College (1969) and an M.A. and an Ed.D. from Temple University. In 1970, he started teaching at the middle school level at St. Michael the Archangel in Levittown, PA. For 40 years, Vince (aka “Doc”) served on the faculty of HGP as a teacher (English, Social Studies, Local Studies, Economics, Political Science, Communications Media, and History of American Film). He also served in various administrative and instructional roles, including librarian and Assistant Headmaster. Vince was also an Adjunct Professor at Holy Family University and at La Salle University. His training included an assignment in the Peace Corps, which he and his wife, Diane, completed in Arizona and Mexico (1969). Their shared love of learning, travel, and culture shaped a lifelong bond.
He valued experiential learning beyond the traditional classroom setting, actively engaging in hands-on, real-world educational experiences. This included service project trips to Nicaragua through the Ayudanica program, participation in a cultural exchange program in Germany, and participation in the Greater Philadelphia High School Partnership (University of Pennsylvania), which brought together students from diverse backgrounds to explore the challenges of segregation and racial and ethnic diversity. In 2019, Vince was awarded the Fr. James McCloskey Alumni Award from HGP.
Vince served on the Yardley Borough Council and, as a member of the Yardley Historical Association, he wrote a series of newspaper articles to commemorate the Borough’s tricentennial. From this endeavor, he compiled the book “Yardley - Images of America.” He thoroughly enjoyed photography, reading, journaling, local history, travel, gastronomic adventures, and tending to his vegetable garden. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, and catching up with friends, former students, and colleagues.
Vince is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Diane (nee Smith) Profy, and his daughter, Jenny Profy, and her husband, Robert Kwait, as well as his grandchildren, Eli Kwait and Vivienne Kwait. He is survived by four sisters, Cecilia Quattrocchi and her husband, Louis, Victoria Profy and her husband, Theodore Dehne, Marylee Profy, and Elizabeth Profy, along with nephews, Angelo Quattrocchi and his wife Heather, and Vincent Quattrocchi, and niece, Melissa Saxton and her husband, Justin, and many cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Visitation on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 9-11:00am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough. Words of Remembrance will follow beginning at 11:00am. Interment, private.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to take a moment to enjoy something meaningful — a walk in nature, time with loved ones, a good book, a favorite meal. Explore. Dream. Discover.
