Obituary

Susan Grace Phinn passed away with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She was 61 years old. Born on May 5, 1965, she was the daughter of the late James Joseph and June Myra (nee Mercer) Frain. She was the eighth of nine children raised in Penndel, Pennsylvania. Susan attended Our Lady of Grace School and Bishop Conwell High School, then went on to attend Rider University, where she received her degree in History. After graduation, she began her career in teaching.

Susan married her husband, Alex, on July 24, 1992. Susan and Alex built a family and a life together rooted in a deep love and foundation of faith. They were each other’s absolute best friends and better halves. They truly loved each other’s company. Susan fully and completely devoted herself to her children, Elizabeth, Nora, Alex, and Claire. When asked to share one word to describe their mom, they immediately chose “loyal.” She was always there for her children, without judgment. She always knew she wanted to create lives for her children that were rooted in a strong foundation of love, faith in the Lord, and support. She was truly born to be a mother—being a mom and nana was her greatest joy. Her grandchildren, Brynn and James, brought her so much happiness.

Susan never shied away from an adventure. She had a deep appreciation for nature and all of the small beauties of this world. She took the time to pick wildflowers and find shells. She was always active. She loved riding her bike, going for walks along the beach, and spending time with her family. She was quiet but fierce—the most brilliant mind in any room, but so humble you would never know it.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alex James Phinn Jr., and was the devoted mother of Elizabeth Lee Phinn, Nora Grace Marini (Michael), Alex James Phinn III (Jessica), and Claire Regina Phinn, and loving Nana of Brynn Elizabeth and James Kenneth Marini. She will be sadly missed by her siblings, Diane Frain, James Frain (Rosemary), Eileen Delahanty (Joseph), John Frain (Eileen McCormick), Patrick Frain (Deborah), and Daniel Frain, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Susan will be missed each and every day. She will be remembered in the simple moments—a wildflower blooming in the grass, a hawk flying in the sky, or a smile or laugh shared amongst family. She is home in Heaven with the Lord, spending time with her mom, dad, and sisters, Karen and Mary; running in an open field with her favorite pups, Heidi and Jazzy; and enjoying a nice slice of cake.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 11:00am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 Bellevue Avenue, Penndel. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem. Friends may call on Monday evening, August 31, 2026 from 6-9:00pm at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough and on Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:45am at Our Lady of Grace Church.
