Obituary

Richard E. Rodgers passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at his home. He was 80 years old. Born in Bristol, son of the late Albert and Frances (nee Waters) Rodgers, he was a Levittown resident for the past 48 years. Richard was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. He was employed as a Steel Worker at United States Steel, retiring after many years of service. Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed birdwatching, classic cars, and woodworking. He was a member of the Chester W. Tershon VFW in Levittown as well as the Langhorne Rod & Gun Club.

Predeceased by his brother, Albert J. Rodgers and his niece, Desiree D. Rodgers, he is survived by his wife, LeighAnn (nee Jones) Rodgers, his son Daniel Rodgers, daughter Janna Jonigkeit, and his grandsons, Connor Jonigkeit and Asher Jonigkeit. He is also survived by his nephew, Gregory Rodgers and his wife Maria, as well as their children, Jonathan, Christian, Jason and Caroline; brother-in-law Robert Jones and his partner Judith Cochran.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 9:30-10:30am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 11:30am at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to the Intrepid Museum, which was one of the ships Richard served on while in the US Navy, at support.intrepidmuseum.org/donate-now.
