Nancy Hodges LaPrad, beloved mother, Me-Mom, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her son's home in Bristol, PA on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
She was 82 years old. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of the late Roy and Bertha Hill. She spent her younger years in Dundalk, Maryland, then traveled with her first husband, Bob Hodges, during his military service. Eventually, settled in Seaford, Delaware where they raised their children. Later in life, she remarried Bob LaPrad and enjoyed a life filled with adventure and laughter.
As an accomplished artist, Nancy shared her gift through private art classes, inspiring students of all ages to find joy in creating. Her beautiful artwork can be found in many places, from local businesses to family homes, a lasting legacy of her talent and dedication. She was a proud member of the Nanticoke Art League, where she connected with fellow artists and nurtured her passion for creativity.
Nancy loved music, traveling, and she cherished every moment spent with her family. She poured her heart into creating homemade cards and scrapbooks, leaving behind cherished keepsakes that reflected the care and love she put into everything she did. She was the heart of her family, always giving her time, creativity, and encouragement. Her laughter lit up every family gathering, and the many heartfelt conversations shared with her will be cherished and deeply missed.
She was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Bertha Hill; her husband, Robert LaPrad; and her son, John Hodges. She is survived by her son, Steve Hodges and his wife, Cathy; and her daughter, Dale Crockett; and will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, John Hodges, Chris Hodges, Shannon Crockett, and Dustin Crockett; and her great-grandchildren, Grayson, Gemma, Dylan, Kali, and Khaleesi. She is also survived by one brother, Drew Hill and his wife, Anita; two sisters, Sandra Brockmeyer and Kim Pugh and her husband, Steve; along with her niece Amanda and nephew Josh.
Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on October 18, 2025 at Cranson’s Funeral Home located at 301 N Shipley Street in Seaford, Delaware. Friends may pay respects from 2:00-3:00, services will begin at 3:00.
Nancy’s warmth, generosity, friendship, and artistic spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the beauty she brought into the world. Her family will forever treasure the unconditional love she showed everyone.
