Matthew James Lautz, 49, passed away on June 30, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born on July 24, 1975, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, Matthew brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew him.
For 26 years, Matthew dedicated himself to his craft as a journeyman with the Local 592 Cement Masons and Plasterers Union. His commitment to his work reflected his strong work ethic and pride in building something lasting—values that extended far beyond the job site.
Matthew’s presence was unforgettable. He was charismatic and charming, with a smile that could brighten any room and a laugh that lifted spirits. Known for being the life of the party, he had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. His loyalty ran deep; he was generous and self-sacrificing to those who showed him kindness. When Matthew loved you, it was unmistakable—his love wrapped around you like a warm blanket.
He had a deep affection for animals and shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Skylar Rain. A devoted fan of the Philadelphia Flyers & the NY Giants. Matthew also enjoyed playing ice hockey, watching Ghost Hunters, listening to music and attending live shows—these passions brought him the most joy.
Matthew’s heart belonged to his family. He is lovingly remembered by his beloved son, Brenden, his mother, Mary Jo; father, James Lautz; brother, Jimmy Lautz; sisters, Lisa and Kimmy Lautz; his only nephew, Nick Lautz, and his dear friend, Megan DiPrimeo. His passing has left an immeasurable void in their hearts and in the hearts of countless friends whose lives he touched.
Matthew didn’t have a hateful bone in his body. His warmth radiated outward to everyone he encountered. He broke many hearts with just his smile—and now breaks them again with his absence.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and may the love he gave so freely continue to echo through their lives.
