Joseph A. Saxton

Joseph A. Saxton passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 after a brief illness. He was 72. Born in Bristol, son of the late Horace, Sr. and Theresa Saxton, he was a lifelong Bristol Borough resident. Joe graduated from Bristol High School and retired, having been employed for 30 years by Rohm & Haas Co. and 12 years by Arkema, as a training manager at the Bristol plant. He was also a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) by the International Society for Performance Improvement. Joe was proud to be a lifelong Bristol Borough resident, from his longtime involvement as a volunteer fireman at Goodwill Hose Co. No. 3, to serving as Vice-Chairman for Bristol's 300th Anniversary Celebration or as a Little League coach and Recreation Board Treasurer. He served 14 years as a Bristol Borough Councilman and Council Vice-President, he was Mayor of Bristol Borough for 8 years and a member of the Bristol Borough School Board and served as its Treasurer. Additionally, Joe has served as a Chairman of the Dow, Arkema and Solvay Community Advisory Committee. He also served on the Bristol Borough Community Partnership Executive Board, the AOC Executive Board, the Route 13 Improvement Advisory Committee, the Delaware River Waterfront Advisory Committee and the Bristol Borough Civil Service Commission. Joe has been involved and recognized as a leader in Bristol Borough, and Bucks County and has given his time and effort for over 50 years. He actively worked on these projects and served on these boards to make Bristol Borough and Bucks County a better place to live, work and enjoy. In 2010 Joe was selected as the Bristol Borough Lions Club Citizen of the Year.

He is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Dottie Bidlingmaier Saxton, his 2 children, Nicole Berdecia and her husband, Hector, and Justin Saxton and his wife, Melissa and his 3 grandchildren, Dominic, Angelina and Luke. He is also survived by 1 brother, Harold Saxton and his wife, Joan, his brother-in-law, Andrew Bidlingmaier and his wife, Barb and sisters-in-law, Marcie Rudy and Debbie Bidlingmaier along with many nieces and nephews. Joe was also predeceased by his brother, Horace Saxton, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 16, 2022, 11:00am at St. Mark Church, Bristol Borough. Interment, private. Friends may call Saturday morning 8-10:45am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Academic Oversight Committee (AOC).
