Celebrating the Life of Jean
Jean Marie Liberty (Hammond) passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at Saint Mary’s Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 5, 1931, in Langhorne, PA, she was 95 years young. Jean was a proud 1948 graduate of Neshaminy High School.
In addition to her parents, Alfred and Alice (Byrne) Hammond, she was reunited in death with her husband, Thomas Liberty; her brothers, Alfred, Frank, Jack, and Robert; and her sisters, Alice, Doris, and Janis.
Jean’s legacy lives on through her family. She is lovingly remembered by her three sons, Patrick (Lisa) Liberty, James(Donna) Liberty and Thomas Liberty, her two cherished granddaughters, Rachel and Sophia; and a large circle of beloved nieces and nephews.
Jean lived a beautiful, vibrant life filled with love, exploration, and a deep devotion to the people around her. She passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, grace, and an adventurous spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Jean had an enduring passion for the world’s wonders. Alongside her sister and frequent co-pilot, Janice, she embraced the joy of travel, exploring many parts of the world and collecting unforgettable stories along the way. When she wasn't journeying abroad, Jean found immense peace and joy closer to home, tending to her beautiful garden and losing herself in the pages of a great book.
Above all else, Jean’s heart belonged to her family. She was the proud mother of three wonderful sons, who brought her endless joy, and the doting grandmother of two adored granddaughters. Jean possessed a rare gift for mentoring; she loved nothing more than exploring the beauty of nature with her granddaughters, successfully passing down her own passion for adventure and discovery to the next generation.
Jean enjoyed a long and successful career with Bell Atlantic. Never one to stop growing, she used her retirement to pursue a lifelong dream, earning her college degree in Humanities from Holy Family University—a testament to her enduring curiosity and love for learning.
Jean beautifully channeled her passion for reading into community service, volunteering in the school library at St. Michael the Archangel. She thoroughly thrived in the joyful hustle and bustle of the school environment, loving nothing more than connecting with the children and inspiring young readers with the perfect book recommendations.
To know Jean was to know true grace. She was deeply charitable, remarkably gracious, and, most of all, profoundly kind. She held her family close to her heart and warmly embraced the many friends she met along her journey through life. Jean’s gentle spirit and generous soul leave an indelible mark on the world, and she will be deeply missed by the many family members and friends she met along her beautiful journey through life.
“Kindness is like a garden; it grows the most beautiful memories.”
