Dolores Ann McDermott, 84, of Voorhees, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Samaritin Hospice in Virtua Mt. Holly with her daughter Jennifer at her side.
Born August 9, 1942, in Philadelphia, she was the youngest daughter of the late John and Lillian Delaney (nee White). Dolores was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graduated from St. Hubert's Catholic High School in 1960, and went on to become a loan officer for First Pennsylvania Bank, now known as Corestates Bank, until her retirement in 1995. On September 7, 1963, she became a beloved wife of 49 years to her late husband, John "Jack" McDermott.
In earlier years, Dolores delighted in annual family vacations to Williamsburg, Virginia and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She also cherished family picnics at her home in Delran, NJ, as well as family gatherings at Lake Garrison, and later in life, yearly summer vacations with her daughter and grandsons in Wildwood, NJ. In addition, Dolores enjoyed reading, coloring, doing puzzle books and appreciated listening to Jonny Mathis and Frank Sinatra.
Throughout her years, Dolores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was also a devote Catholic who was very dedicated to her church, Resurrection Parish in Delran, NJ and remained a parishioner after her move to Voorhees, NJ in 2022. Dolores had an unwavering love for all of her family, especially her grandchildren, Jack and Dominic, whom she adored more than life itself. She was a constant source of strength and love and had a way of touching the soul of everyone she met. She had a close bond with her daughter Jennifer and a special closeness to her niece, Joyce Wiess (nee Smith), who was like a second daughter to her.
Dolores is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Parker (nee McDermott), grandsons, Jack and Dominic Parker, sister in laws, Evelyn Delaney and Margaret Marquis (nee McDermott), as well as multiple nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" McDermott, brother, John "Jack" Delaney, and her sister, Joyce Smith (nee Delaney).
