David Roland Phillips, Jr. passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was 91 years old. Born in Philadelphia, son of the late David Roland, Sr. and Margaret E. (nee Delowery) Phillips, he was a Philadelphia resident for many years prior to moving to Southampton. Mr. Phillips attended the Police Academy and served as a dedicated Police Officer for the City of Philadelphia for 18 years, retiring in 1981. He was also a United States Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean War. Mr. Phillips enjoyed birdwatching and going to the casino with his wife, and loved watching the history channel. But most especially, he loved very much simple phone calls to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Sophie (nee Giordano) Phillips; his youngest son, Daniel R. Phillips (Catherine); 6 grandchildren, Lisa (Shane), Brian, Julie (RJ), Lauren (Taylor), Douglas (Brittany), Lindsay (Andrew); and 8-great grandchildren Kyrie, Lilly, Ellie, Emma, Talen, Vance, Colton and Landon. David was preceded in death by his sons, David R. Phillips 3rd (survived by wife Diane) and Dennis R. Phillips (survived by wife Eileen).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Thursday, June 19, 2025, 11am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 877 Street Rd, Southampton, PA. Interment, Union Cemetery, Richboro. Friends may pay respects from 10-11am at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
