William Hanna
William "Butch" Hanna, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he has been a Bristol Township resident since 1969. Mr. Hanna was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, enlisting at 19 and serving in the 47th Infantry Regiment. He was employed by A&P SuperMarkets for over 25 years. Mr. Hanna was a fan of all sports in Philadelphia. The Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and Sixers will miss him coaching from the couch. He enjoyed playing pool. Always courageous and strong, he silently battled multiple cancers and heart disease with dignity.
One of 8 children born to Samuel and Mary A. (nee Mullen) Hanna, he is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret (nee Grabowski) Hanna, 4 daughters and their spouses, Margie and Jay Muoio, Theresa and James Fries, Patti and Louis Levine and Mary Ann and William McCarty along with several grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Elizabeth Paciolla and Barbara Ashton, 2 brothers, John and Thomas Hanna along with many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hanna was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mary Jane Kearney, Margaret Scott and Catherine Lare, 3 nieces, Tina and Joanne Lare and Karen Brackens and 1 nephew, John Hanna.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service, this evening, Thursday, October 20, 2011, 7:30pm at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Str., Bristol Borough, where friends may call from 6:00pm until time of service. Interment, private. The family would like to thank the staff of Chandler Hall Hospice Pavilion for their compassionate care.
