Marguerite Nowack

Marguerite (Gallagher) Nowack, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 in Bakersfield, California. She was born on November 2, 1915, daughter of the late Maude and John Gallagher. She attended St. Mark Elementary School and was a 1933 graduate of St. Mark Commercial. She married Walt Nowack in 1941. In 1949 Walt and his brother, Eddie, opened Nowack Bros. store in West Bristol.

After marrying, she joined St. Thomas Aquinas Church and attended church there until she moved to California in 2002. Marguerite organized a large Sodality Group and for many years was one of the ladies who cleaned the church. She was a charter member of the Bishop Egan Mother's Club. Marguerite loved factory work because she said it allowed her to talk and have fun while she worked. She worked at Sears and Roebuck on Roosevelt Blvd., a distillery, a lipstick factory and her last job was for INA Insurance Company. After she retired, she and Walt were members of the Golden Marks Seniors Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Nowack and her son, Walter and is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Schmid and her husband, Donald and 1 grandson, Robert, all of Bakersfield, California. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, John, Francis, Edward and Joseph Gallagher and 2 sisters; Mary McGlynn and Kathryn Harvie Her family would like to thank Patty and Rich Gardener, Patrice and Louie Torres, Rita and Dominic Roberto, Jim and Floss Petrino and Andi Harvie for the love and support they gave her prior to moving to California.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass on Monday, June 27, 2011, 11:00am at St. Mark Church, 1025 Radcliffe Str., Bristol Borough. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning 10-11:00am at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to you favorite charity or your church.
