Obituary

Florence "Florie" Mancini

Florie Mancini went peacefully into the arms of the angels, surrounded by her loving and devoted family on March 15, 2011 at the age of 91.  Daughter of the late Angela and Nicola Ninni, Florie was born on November 11, 1919 in Bristol Boro and remained a lifelong Boro resident.

Florie was a devoted wife, mother and Nonna.  Her happiest times were spent cooking and baking for her family and friends.  Everyone enjoyed her tomato pie, cheese bread, stuffed olives and homemade pasta as well as many other delicious dishes.

As a child Florie attended St. Ann School and spent many mornings and afternoons being cared for by the nuns while her parents worked.  During World War II, Florie worked at Fleetwings, along with her beloved husband, Bert, assembling planes.  She epitomized the "Rosie the Riveter" of World War II.

Florie was predeceased by the love of her life, Albert, her sons-in-law, Patrick Yezzie and George Samec, her sisters-in-law, Mary Quaranta and brothers-in-law, Nicholas, Peter and Alfred Mancini.  She was the loving mother of Yvonne Puliti and her husband James of Hamilton, NJ, Louise Samec, Maria Yezzie and Michele Sootkoos and her husband, Steve, with whom she resided, all of Bristol Boro.  She was the loving Nonna of Paul Yezzie, Michele Yezzie, Mary (Bill) Thompson, Yvonne Trausi, Robert Trausi, Virginia Carsia, Denise (Bob) Poston, James (Sue) Puliti, Robert Puliti, Paula (Chuck) Maxwell, Jeannine Puliti and Lisa (Dan) Walker.  She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Anna Mancini, Frances Vardaro and Laura Mancini, and her god-daughter, Donalyn Grace, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.    Florie was especially close to her niece, Antonia Hochreiter and nephew, Louis Mancini.

The family of Florie Mancini would like to thank the nurses and aides from Heartland Hospice, in particular Nancy Dungan, Elaine Hilliard and Danielle Wylie, without their care and compassion our mother would not have survived.  If there are angels on earth, Nancy, Elaine and Danielle have earned their wings in our eyes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 19, 2011, 11:00am at St. Mark Church, Bristol Boro.  Interment, St. Mark Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday evening 7-9:00pm and Saturday morning 9:00-10:30am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Boro.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn  38105 or to St. Mark Church, 1025 Radcliffe Str., Bristol, Pa  19007.
