David A. Wintz, Sr.
Fire Police Captain, David A. Wintz, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the line of duty at the Dow Chemical Fire in Bristol. He was 65 years old. Born in Philadelphia, son of the late Francis and Marie Wintz, he was raised in Feasterville, and was a Bristol Borough resident for many years, along with residing in Florida for 14 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Dave was previously employed as a firefighter at the Philadelphia Navy Base. He was a firefighter for 50 years and belonged to the following fire companies; Trevose Station 4, Feasterville Station 6, Union Station 37, Newportville Station 12, Goodwill Hose Company Station 52, and Bristol Fire Company Station 51.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (née Toth) Wintz, 5 children, Sueann Wintz-Griscavage and her husband Jeffery, Sr., Sandra Wintz-Hill and her husband, Leon, David Wintz,Jr and his wife Terry, Daniel Wintz and his wife, Maureen, and Tammy Benton-Cason, his grandchildren, Drew, Amanda, Jeffery, Jr, Justin, Sarah, David, III, Kenneth, Roseanna, Cameron, Shianne, Sierra, and Shaniah, and 1 great-grandson, Jeremiah. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Barrett and her husband , George, his mother-in-law, Lillian McCrory and father-in-law, Francis Toth, and sister-in-law, Marie Wintz along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 1 brother, Joseph Wintz , Sr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday, May 21, 2012, 11:00AM at St. Mark Church, Bristol Borough. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening 7-9:00pm and Monday morning 9-10:30am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough.
