Anthony "Tony" Mann
Anthony "Tony" Mann, age 52, of Philadelphia, formerly of Buck Road, Holland, died unexpectedly at his home on December 6, 2007. Born December 27, 1954 in Philadelphia to the late Edward F. Sr. and Mary R. (nee McCahan) Mann, he was a graduate of Council Rock High School and Kutztown University. He was a retired librarian who taught for many years at Rhawnhurst Elementary School. Tony's hobby was researching his civil war era ancestors, and spent many summer vacations following the civil war travels of his great-great-grandfather, John K. McCahan and his great-grand-uncle, Thomas McCahan. He served as a volunteer at the Bayshore Discovery Project in New Jersey, where he assisted on many sailings of the historic oyster schooner, AJ Meerwald, the official tall ship of the state of New Jersey. Tony was actively involved in the restoration of the oyster boat, Cashier, and enjoyed researching the boat's history. He was very proud of his volunteer work with the Philadelphia airport USO.
He is survived by 2 brothers, Paul of Bolinas, CA and Edward F. and his wife, Diane of Selinsgrove, 3 sisters, the Rev. Louise Mann of Edmonton, KY, the Rev. Mary Anne Mann of Manhattan, NY and the Rev. Alice Mann of Bradford, MA, 10 nieces and nephews and 4 great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by a brother, Gerald Mann and a sister-in-law, Salome Mann.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday, December 15, 2007, from 3-5:00pm, with a Service of Remembrance at 5:00pm, at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Str., Bristol Boro. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
