Mary Ellen Snyder
School Nurse

Mary Ellen (nee Gallagher) Snyder, age 84, of Bristol Boro., passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, at Langhorne Gardens Nursing Center. Born in Bristol Boro, she was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Snyder attended St. Mark School, as did her mother and children, was a graduate of Hallahan Girls Catholic High School, Philadelphia, and received her nursing degree from St. Francis School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ, where she proudly served as a Nurse Cadet, during WWII. She began her nursing career as an Operating Room Nurse, at the newly opened Lower Bucks Hospital. Mrs. Snyder was a School Nurse for St. Mark School, St. Ann School, and Jefferson Ave. School, for over 20 years. She loved being a School Nurse and could remember all the children's names and their families. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark Church, a founding member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Bristol, a member of t he Bristol Borough Education Association and loved being a "Gallagher Girl". Mrs. Snyder was very devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary every evening for her intentions as well as the intentions of others. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and knit and was an avid Phillies fan, win or lose.

Adoring wife and soul mate of 58 years to the late Joseph "Lanky" Snyder, she is the loving mother of Mary Jo Tiso and her husband, Frank of Levittown, Susan Snyder, and Mark Snyder and his wife, Sarah, all of Bristol. Devoted grandmother of Kate (Derek) Sottile, Melissa (Dave) Tenzer, Cheryl (Peter) Gollmer, Erica Snyder, Dana Snyder and Mary Kate Snyder. Proud great-grandmother of Heather Sottile, Mina Laurel Tenzer, Brooke Gollmer, Ben Gollmer, Bailey Gollmer and Kylee White. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Mrs. Snyder was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Florence (nee Motz) Gallagher, 3 sisters, Anita Ruff, Teresa Mauro and Elizabeth "Betty" Paolella, and 3 brothers, Joseph, Lawrence, and Francis Gallagher.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, October 4, 2007, 10:00am at St. Mark Church, Bristol Boro. Interment, St. Mark Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening 7-9:00pm and Thursday morning 9-9:45am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Boro.
