Michael Montanya
Bristol Boro Resident
Michael Montanya, age 59, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, with his family and friends at his side, after a brief illness. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he has been a Bristol Boro resident since 1987. After graduating from Bishop Egan High School in 1964, he became a member of the Franciscan TOR for 5 years and was known as Brother Peter. He later graduated from St. Francis College in Loretta, Pa in 1972. Mr. Montanya was a Transportation Logistics Manager at Core States Bank for over 15 years and later at Heaven Sent Courier. He was a member of St. Mark Church, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Michael Dougherty Div. 1,Bristol, where he was past secretary, served for many years as President of the Fathers Club and Athletic Boosters at Conwell-Egan Catholic. He has serv ed as President for the past 6 years at America Hose, Hook and Ladder Co., Bristol and was also a member of the Bristol Boro Planning Commission.
Son of the late Joseph and Mary (nee Martin) Montanya, he is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela (nee McNeal) Montanya, 3 loving children, Isaac Montanya and his wife, Helen of Charlotte, NC, Joseph Montanya of Bristol, and Mary Montanya of Reading. He is the devoted grandfather of Connor and Ella Montanya. He is also survived by 4 brothers, Peter Montanya and his wife, Marcia of Levittown, Stevan Montanya of Philadelphia, Timothy Montanya and his wife, Donna of Bensalem, and Christopher Montanya, also of Bensalem, his father and mother-in-law, John and Suzanne McNeal of Port Royal, Pa, 2 brothers-in-law, Gregg McNeal and Steven McNeal, along with Malcolm McCahan and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 23, 20 07, 10:00am at St. Mark Church, Bristol Boro. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening 6-9:00pm and Tuesday morning 8:30-9:30am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Str., Bristol Boro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hibernian Hunger Project, 614 Corson Str., Bristol, Pa 19007.
